The BGX Studio: A Black Gotham Experience

192 Front Street between John and Fulton Streets in Manhattan’s Seaport District

Made possible by an artist residency with Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and support from The Howard Hughes Corporation, the BGX Studio transports Black Gotham Experience’s visual storytelling into an engaging, multifaceted space in the heart of the Seaport District.  View art from our graphic novel at a scale never before seen and go behind the scenes of how it’s created.  Join us for lively events like Nerdy Thursdays and TALK/BACK. Page through the books and archival materials that inspire our team, then bring home collectibles and fashion inspired by Black Gotham Experience.  Located at 192 Front Street, our studio is in the footprint of where the people and events central to Black Gotham Experience unfolded centuries ago. Come explore with us.

Nerdy Thursdays

Nerdy Thursday is the BGX Weekly Mixer.  The place to enjoy books, cocktails, music, and interesting people. Connect with new circles of nerds and geek out on history, fashion, and art as our signature cocktails elevate the vibe.

6-10pm on Thursdays

Our walking tours (Caesar’s Rebellion Part I and Part II, and Other Side of Wall Street) bring you into a reconstructed New Netherland and British New York. Participants witness the impact of the African Diaspora on the making of New York City and the birth of the United States of America.

Public walking tours resume with our Spring 2018 season in April.  Private walking tours are available year-round.
