“Critical Walk-Through” Artist-Led Exhibition Experience

May 23 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Buy tickets here.

These 40-minute guided tours of Holding Space: The Museum Collects are led by artists, writers, and scholars, who bring new insights to the exhibition’s artworks and themes. In this program, artist and historian Kamau Ware will discuss founding the Black Gotham Experience, a platform for storytelling and alternative histories that interweaves walking tours, community building, publications, and visual art. “The Other Side of Wall Street,” “Caesar’s Rebellion,” and “Citizen Hope” are three stories at the heart of the Black Gotham Experience. Together, they form a narrative that revisits Manhattan in 1625 and progresses forward through three centuries of history.

$5 includes the program and light refreshments. AFAM Members and currently enrolled students are free! Email: smargolis-pineo@folkartmuseum.org for your promotion code. If this program has sold out, send an email to be placed on the waitlist.
