Thanks for visiting the Black Gotham Experience Studio, ColorComm fam!

Black Gotham Experience’s origins are rooted in a simple life-changing question from a child:

Where were the Black people?

The question was deeper than one of geography. The question was one of identity – Where are Black people in the story of New York City and how did Black people get here?

Black Gotham Experience is a visual storytelling project that celebrates the impact of the African Diaspora on New York City dating back to 1625.  We celebrate this history through walking tour experiences, a developing series of photography-based graphic novels and events such as Nerdy Thursdays.

Here are three ways that ColorComm members and guests can engage with us:

Join us for one of our public walking tours or recommend a private walking tour or Talk / Back experience to your company, ERG, professional organization, cultural group or school.

Use COLORCOMM18 for 15% off experiences, art and swag in-studio and online.

Come out for Nerdy Thursday, co-hosted by ColorComm.  We’re celebrating our BGX Studio Birthday (it’s been a year!) and we’re premiering our upcoming Caribbean Cinema Night series.  Nerdy Thursdays is our weekly mixer that combines cocktails, culture and conversations.  RSVP here.

Share the stories of Catalina Anthony, Anna D’Angola and Marycke.  Their stories reflect the deep legacy of NYC’s women of color being financially resourceful and empowering themselves.

Get social and post a photo of yourself with Catalina, geotag Black Gotham Experience, tag @BlackGotham and use #InsideBlackGotham.
