Black Prints started on June 4th as a global conversation between six Black storytellers working in different countries who give walking tours about the powerful stories of the African Diaspora. The conversation continues August 27th with a focus on Brazil. We are thrilled to present Kelly Tavares from Rio Encantos based in Rio de Janeiro; Sayuri C. Khimosa from SK Tours based in Salvador, Bahia; and Thaís Rosa Pinheiro from Conectando Territórios based in Rio de Janeiro. Black Prints is hosted and produced by Kamau Ware for Black Gotham Experience.

Join us for this virtual event of solidarity that looks into the connected stories of the African Diaspora from the Black perspective. Some important info before joining.

  1. Brazil received more captive Africans during the Diaspora than any other country in the western hemisphere.

  2. Brazil was the last country in the western hemisphere to end slavery.

  3. Brazil is the country with the largest Black population in the world outside the continent of Africa.
