Black Gotham Experience Commissions

Established in 2010 by artist/historian Kamau Ware, Black Gotham Experience merges scholarship and aesthetics to highlight the often-overlooked impact of the African Diaspora. Through media, interactive events, storytelling and art, we reimagine spaces influenced by these  stories. Our commissions amplify Black voices and narratives overlooked by history, fostering a more inclusive collective memory. Through our commissions, it is our honor to connect contemporary audiences with these forgotten stories, with empathy, scholarship and creativity at the core of our work.

Some of our commissioned experiences include:

Buffalo Sonnet  | Union of Hope | Kuzaliwa  | EPICENTER | Fighting Dark
