Nerdy Thursdays 2.27.2020
Black Gotham Experience (BGX) is partnering with City School of the Arts (CSA) to produce the first ever youth focused Nerdy Thursdays event. Nerdy Thursdays is a signature event that originated in New York City’s historic Seaport District in spring 2017 as a book club and after-work mixer. This series has evolved into a celebrated space for creative entrepreneurial nerds with established elements including a reading room, revolving DJs, curated panels, and vibrant hosts. These events offer a variety of themes that have engaged audiences from SXSW in Austin, Texas to la colonie in Paris, France. This will be the first Nerdy Thursdays Youth Edition.
The New York City Charter School of the Arts inspires a diverse community of young people to engage with the arts as a pathway to rich and rigorous academic scholarship and a creative, purposeful life. The event’s host, panelists, performers, and DJ will be CSA students. For the past two years, CSA has brought students to participate in the Black Gotham Experience Sarah’s Fire walk, which is part of a series of walks that illustrate the impact of the African Diaspora on New York City.
