Black Gotham Experience NERDY THURSDAYS has built a cult following in NYC by combining cocktails, culture and conversation – and now we’re bringing the experience to SXSW for a special night in Austin.  Come and enjoy:

I want to bring a friend.  Should I have them RSVP too?

We love when our attendees bring their friends.  You should RSVP on their behalf or have them RSVP directly, as RSVPs are required for admission.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Printed tickets are not needed. Please have your electronic ticket ready so that we can easily scan you at the door and get your Nerdy Thursday experience started as quickly as possible.

Where and when is Nerdy Thursdays in New York City?

Nerdy Thursdays will be back in action April 5th at the Black Gotham Experience Studio in the Seaport District.  Gallery, museum, artist studio, event space – we have a bit of it all.  Our exhibit and experience space engages people of all backgrounds and connects them with the stories and design process of the Black Gotham Experience.  The BGX Studio is made possible by an artist residency with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and special support from The Howard Hughes Corporation.

SXSW: Activism in Public Spaces with Subway Book Review

Connect with writers, photographers, filmmakers, content creators, and other artists who create work with a mission in public spaces. The relationship between art and activism has heated up since 2016. Having a public presence matters now more than ever. Share your ideas and experiences. Inspire more activism in public spaces.

This session and meet up is hosted by Kamau Ware, founder and Lead Creative of the Black Gotham Experience and Uli Beutter Cohen (BGX Advisory Board ’16), founder of Subway Book Review.

SXSW: Black Gotham: Immersive Storytelling & Technology

We’re headed to Austin with our homies Rapport Studios for this SXSW® session, lead by BGX Founder Kamau Ware and Rapport Studios founders Armando Somoza and Chenits Pettigrew. Participants will experience a sample of BGX’s walking tour, history, and culture. Come learn about how we’re working with Rapport Studios to leverage immersive technology – including VR/AR – to place you in the story so that you experience untold narratives and history.
